Guidelines

 

Abstracts must be submitted only through the http://congresosinug2018.com/?fwp=11&fwl=2&opcionMenuAsistentes=3

 

Deadline: From May 1st. 2018 to June 15th. June 24th. 2018.

 

The scientific committee shall decide whether an abstract is accepted or not and how it will be presented (oral or poster presentation).

 

Acceptance of contributions shall be notified to the email address given by the author once abstracts and videos have been assessed by the scientific board.

 

Abstracts notification of acceptance shall take as soon as possible.

 

Anonymity for a more objective assessment

The text of the abstract to be submitted shall be absolutely anonymous, without the name of any institution, city, author or anything that might allow the identification thereof.

Details regarding identification, institution, ethics or institutional committees shall be sent separately and after acceptance shall be attached to the correspondent abstract.

 

Approval by ethics committee

Acceptance or rejection by the Clinical Research Ethics Committee (CREC) shall be included.

For animal studies institutional approval and acceptance by the Ethics Committee shall be required where applicable.

 

Funding and conflict of interest

External funding or study grants shall be declared or denied.

 

Abstract format

· Identification fields

Authors shall include their name, surname (compound surnames must be as a hyphenated surname) and a reference to the work place – unit, institution and city in the appropriate field.

 

Authorship format:

First lastname Second lastname Name initials and the next author.
Example: Martínez García R, Jiménez Cruz JF.

Use numbered references in brackets to identify the work center, this reference will be situated after the initial of the name and separated with a space, as follows:
Example: Martínez García R (1), Jiménez Cruz JF (2).

In the appropriate field list the work centers: number work center. Do not use periods after abbreviations such as "H" for a hospital or "U" for a university student, as follows:
Example: 1. H Clínico U de Valencia.

 

· Abstracts

 

- Video clips Abstracts: Maximum length: 900 characters, that must include the following information: video clip length, communication goals and a short description.
Maximum videoclip length: 5 minutes. Once accepted, the video could be requested by the Cientific Committee for a correct assessment before the congress.

- No video clip abstracts (review studies, clinical or experimental studies, ecological and cross-sectional studies-surveys): An extended abstract shall be sent with a maximum of 4,500 characters or 1,500 words, tables included.

 

Both text and tables may be written in Word format, allowing for copying and pasting on submission forms.

 

A maximum of 3 figures are allowed. The figures must be attached in the correspondent field. All figures must be of satisfactory quality. The names of the files of the figures must be the same as the one used in the text, such as Figure 1, etc.

 

Abstracts shall contain five sections:

  • Assumptions / Objetives
  • Materials and methods / Study design
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion/s

 

The terminology used must be the one accepted by the ICS ( translated and adapted by the SINUG) (available in https://www.sinug.org/revista/volumen-25-no-1/).

 

Optionally, up to three bibliographic citations may be included, without exceeding the available number of characters. The body of the text shall include the relevant reference expressed as a number in brackets.

 

Abstracts shall be written in any of the Congress official languages (Spanish or Portuguese). An additional English version may be attached by the author.

 

The quality of works shall be assessed considering the relevant abstracts, whereas presentation and defence thereof shall be assessed on site. Therefore it is important for all abstracts to include a straightforward objective and to provide sufficient detail on materials and methods used and outcomes. At the discussion it’s also important to give the work’s weaknesses, biases and constraints, as well as the extent of conclusions. Do not use more space than needed.
 

Failure to meet any of the above rules shall lead to refusal of any works submitted.

 

It is necessary that the first author must be registered in order to present the abstract during the congreso.

 

Submission process

During the submission process, firstly of all, it is necessary to choose the type of abstract to be submitted:

  • Video
  • Study review
  • Clinical or experimental study
  • Ecological studies, cross-sectional studies-surveys

 

Then, between 4 and 8 keywords from the list available in https://www.sinug.org/documento/palabras-clave/ must be chosen. At least one word of each group must be chosen in order to rightly classify your work.

 

Once everything is ready, click on the “continue” option. A preview of the data will be displayed on the screen. If everything is correct, the "send abstract" button must be pressed. Once sent, the message "Your request has been sent correctly" will be displayed. The data updated can be consulted and modified in the “private area” section.

 

The author may modify the abstract information in by clicking in his user profile > abstract > pencil. Modifications will be allowed until the abstract submission deadline.

 

Once the abstract is sent through the online form, a confirmation email, including the abstract reference number, will be sent to the email address provided.
